Maya's core belief is that students need to explore and reflect in order to grow. As an educational consultant with over 25 years of experience in education, Maya leverages a Masters in Educational Psychology and additional training at Columbia Teachers College to assist students in reflection to initiate ideas that grow into college application essays that allow them to tell their stories in their unique voice.
As a UCLA doctoral candidate, Maya presented her research on learning and instruction at conferences, visiting colleges from McGill University in Montreal, to the University of Washington, the University of Hawaii, and the University of Michigan. She enjoys discovering new colleges and sharing her knowledge with families.
As a parent of two teens that are going through the admissions process, Maya understands the balance of supporting students while empowering them to become independent in their college search. When not working with students, Maya enjoys authoring a young adult novel, hiking, biking, and hanging out with her family and two Australian shepherds.
