The Signature Project Program provides a mentored and structured path for students to create something original, impactful, and deeply personal, helping them stand out in an increasingly competitive UC and selective admissions landscape.
Colleges are no longer just focused on evaluating grades and test scores.
They are looking for students who:
- Cultivate a sense of direction and purpose
- Take initiative by creating or leading something of their own - not just joining
- Demonstrate impact and growth over time
- Pursue activities that align with genuine interests
Over the past few years, the single most notable shift in college admissions has been the increased emphasis on fit to major. Admission officers often ask: Does this student clearly show curiosity, commitment, and potential in this field?
Students are supported every step of the way, from idea development to execution, so their project doesn’t remain just an idea, but becomes a completed, meaningful accomplishment.
The program includes eight mentored sessions over 3–6 months and is structured around four key stages:
Define the project.
- Clarify direction and purpose
- Identify interests and “why” behind the project
- Explore potential major/career alignment
- Define a focused, meaningful project idea
- Set clear goals and intended measurable impact
Build the plan.
- Create structure and accountability
- Break the project into milestones
- Establish timeline and benchmarks
- Identify resources and support
- Set expectations for progress
Execute and track.
- Bring the project to life
- Take initiative and build the project
- Problem-solve and adapt as needed
- Track measurable impact and outcomes
- Maintain momentum and accountability
Present and articulate.
- Turn work into a compelling story
- Develop a professional presentation or portfolio
- Reflect on results and personal growth
- Connect the project to your future direction
- Translate experience into essays, interviews, and resumes
