Lynette Mathews:

Founder and CEO of The College Planning Center


Lynette is an educational consultant and free-lance writer for various publications, writing on college admissions and teen-related issues. As the co-author of the TRACK IT! College Planning Curriculum, she has worked to grow the College Planning Center organization by offering a tool that can be used as the educational component of college planning services. The curriculum is now used by many highly respected independent educational consultants, high schools, and non-profit organizations around the country and internationally, offering the field of college counseling the benefit of a professional and consistent curriculum. 

Lynette works tirelessly toward her vision of developing the means to offer advanced college guidance to all students in the community. Through The College Planning Center’s offering of a combination of one-on-one counseling, community workshops, Speaker Series, and articles in the media – she hopes to reach all families in the community that are in need of assistance. Her team works closely with the local college admission representatives, high school counseling departments, and Parent Teacher Associations to supplement parent/student education related to higher education. 

Awarded the prestigious IDEA grant by the Western Association for College Admissions Counseling (WACAC) for her work with under-represented students in the community, Lynette continues to work to make college accessible for all deserving students. She takes pride in keeping up with current trends in higher education and is considered an expert in the industry, having presented at professional organizations such as NACAC, HECA, IECA and WACAC Conferences and webinars over the years. 

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Loyola Marymount University and a Certificate in College Counseling with distinction from University of California at Los Angeles. Lynette receives great joy in supporting her students throughout their high school years to discover their future and to set themselves up for success in life.
